The work depicts a image of the night sky painted on a plaster board. It is placed in a black pool of water
surrounded by a wooden structure. In this work I attempt to bring a piece of the sky down to earth .
The work lay’s flat on the floor and the water reflects the room around it.
The stars on the plate are drawn on an underlying Arabic pattern. In the Islamic tradition it is not allowed to make any depiction of God or anything figurative. And so they use patterns as decoration and as icons. They see it as an symbol of the interconnectedness with God.
I see it a bit as a magic crystal ball in which you can look and see the entire universe.
